Once your koi pond glass has been installed, it is important to clean it regularly. Cleaning your pond window regularly helps to prevent algae build-up which can become stubborn and difficult to remove over time. We’d recommend cleaning the glass as soon as algae build-up becomes visible. Some people will opt to clean on a weekly basis to ensure the algae is kept at bay.
It is important to clean the glass with an object that will not scratch the glass. There are a number of cost effective solutions that can be used when cleaning depending on the depth of your pond.
For ponds in which the bottom of the glass is in arms reach we recommend:
- A kitchen sponge
- Japanese matting
- A micro fibre cloth
For deeper ponds the following products are recommended:
- Rolson 61009 3-in-1 Cold Weather Tool
- Swimming pool brush
- A dish washing brush taped to some overflow pipe
If you have any other methods we’d love to hear from you!
